I. Family Involvement in Managed Care Systems

چکیده

System of care values and principles2 have achieved wide acceptance in the children’s mental health arena, but the value of family involvement is not always internalized and operationalized among front line staff or among partner agencies and systems. Respecting families as experts on their children, enlisting them as partners in the care of their children, supporting them in their caregiver role, and involving them as partners in decision making at all levels of the system are goals that have not been fully achieved in managed care systems. Handling resistance to family involvement and encouraging staff and partner agencies to understand and adopt this value requires diligence and determination.
